Northern Virginia’s largest “Open House” home tour is a two-day event that attracts thousands of visitors from around the greater Washington Metropolitan and Northern Virginia areas. This free, self-guided tour is in its 20th year and will take place the weekend of April 29th and 30th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The signature sponsor of the event is McLean Mortgage Corporation. Thanks to the generosity of McLean Mortgage Corporation, the Parade of Homes is open to the public at no charge.
This year’s parade features a wide array of homes—both newly built and remodeled—designed for many tastes, lifestyles and budgets. The self-guided tours offer homebuyers, architecture and interior design buffs a chance to explore the region’s most innovative single family homes, custom homes and townhomes. Those interested in green certified design, and Energy Star rated homes will have plenty of options to explore the weekend of April 29th and 30th. There will even be homes available for immediate delivery.
The event provides leading builders and remodelers the opportunity to showcase their craftsmanship, innovative design features, dynamic floor plans and the latest in interior design ideas. The Parade of Homes spans Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties. A complete list of locations and communities is available at vaparade.com.
Creating an individual tour is easy at vaparade.com. After taking a peek at the homes using the online gallery, a personal tour can be created and mapped with driving directions based upon your individual choices using criteria such as location, home type and price range.
Again, the public is invited to visit these homes free of charge. The Parade of Homes will also highlight builders who have benefitted NVBIA’s charitable organization, HomeAid Northern Virginia (www.homeaidnova.org), which builds and renovates housing for homeless women and children.
During the parade, the public should be on the lookout for builders participating in the parade that are included in HomeAid Northern Virginia’s Builders’ Circle of Excellence; these builders have made a significant commitment to giving back to the communities where they live and work.
The Northern Virginia Building Industry Association is committed to serving the housing industry in the Northern Virginia area. The Association was founded in 1936 by eight Arlington County Builders. Today, NVBIA has expanded its membership and is now composed of four chapters: Fauquier, Fairfax-Arlington-Alexandria, Loudoun and Prince William.
